Today I was interviewed on the Dave Ramsey Show live on the air by the man himself Mr. Dave Ramsey! I was on the show to talk about the "Homeless Hook-Up 2012. About 2 weeks ago on his Facebook page he asked for stories about giving to be emailed to him to talk about on his annual "Giving Show" the show features stories of people that are giving in fun and interesting ways. I sent in the story of the Homeless Hook-Up and was contacted back by his producer Laura Johnson she said my story was great and wanted to get it on the air! So today was the day, they called me at 4:05 and I sat on hold for about 15 minutes with my heart pounding out of my chest! Then when Dave said "Next we have Bryon from Detroit" a calm washed over me and I told the story of our adventure and all he said at the end was "Wow what an amazing job". It was a experience I will remember forever. If you want to listen to the show it can be heard at www.daveramsey.com and click on the radio tab, my segment is at the top of the 3rd hour of the show. I just hope I've inspired someone else to give in a way that touches someone I way they can never explain.

Making Christmas Magical!
Christmas for everyone! With the help of many many people we were able to adopt 2 families for Christmas from the Volunteers of America. We raised over $1,600. This would not have been possible without my family and friends who shared the donation site link with everyone they could for like 2 months. our first goal was only $500 and that was matched by a wonderful man who matched that with a donation of $500 himself! After that we kept on hustling donations and made a second goal of $1,500 and said if this is reached we will adopt a second family a friend heard what I was doing and how much we needed for a second family and wrote me a check for $400 dollars! I was on the phone in minutes asking for a second family that we could give a magical Christmas. Again thank you to all that helped by donating or sharing the link of the donation site THANK YOU ALL!

Homeless Hook-Up 2012

My story of giving this year starts with last year. Last year I was on my way to a concert in Detroit so that afternoon I packed a back pack with some sweatshirts, hats, gloves, socks, snacks, toiletries and an old ski coat coat I had.My mission to give all this to the first homeless person that asked me for some help. I made it 5 feet out of the parking garage and there was a gentleman that asked for some change I gave him my bag and explained what was in it and my coat and went off to my concert.
This year I wanted to do the same thing but bigger so I made a event on Facebook and invited some friends as a month went by the guest list was exploding with people I didn't know from friends inviting friends inviting friends. So I collected bags from family and friends of mine that couldn't go but wanted to help I personally took 15 bags packed full. I walk up to the meeting spot in front of the Casino and there were over 40 people standing around with over 100 bags fully packed for the homeless! I passed out some ski gloves that a friend of mine was able to get donated from the sporting goods company she works for. So then we hit the streets of Detroit looking for people to help! We found all types of people that were so grateful, one gentleman that was sleeping on the sidewalk was so excited to get fresh new clean sock he put them on right then and there. It really was a experience of a lifetime we had one gentleman gather our group and said a prayer for us. It was amazing and I hope next year we can get 80 people with 200 bags! As a side note we were able to GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY!
