Homeless Hook-Up 2012

My story of giving this year starts with last year. Last year I was on my way to a concert in Detroit so that afternoon I packed a back pack with some sweatshirts, hats, gloves, socks, snacks, toiletries and an old ski coat coat I had.My mission to give all this to the first homeless person that asked me for some help.  I made it 5 feet out of the parking garage and there was a gentleman that asked for some change I gave him my bag and explained what was in it and my coat and went off to my concert.
This year I wanted to do the same thing but bigger so I made a event on Facebook and invited some friends as a month went by the guest list was exploding with people I didn't know from friends inviting friends inviting friends.  So I collected bags from family and friends of mine that couldn't go but wanted to help I personally took 15 bags packed full.  I walk up to the meeting spot in front of the Casino and there were over 40 people standing around with over 100 bags fully packed for the homeless!  I passed out some ski gloves that a friend of mine was able to get donated from the sporting goods company she works for.  So then we hit the streets of Detroit looking for people to help! We found all types of people that were so grateful, one gentleman that was sleeping on the sidewalk was so excited to get fresh new clean sock he put them on right then and there. It really was a experience of a lifetime we had one gentleman gather our group and said a prayer for us. It was amazing and I hope next year we can get 80 people with 200 bags!  As a side note we were able to GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY!
